U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) today issued the following statement on the Supreme Court's McCutcheon v. FEC ruling:

"The Supreme Court's decision today to strike down the limits on aggregate campaign contributions individual donors can make to candidates, political parties and political action committees will make it harder for regular people to have a say in American politics. This ruling further concentrates power in the hands of the very wealthy and enhances their ability to dramatically influence elections, representing another step in an alarming trend of the Court weakening crucial, longstanding campaign finance law. As Justice Breyer stated in his dissent, the Court's decision "eviscerates our Nation's campaign finance laws, leaving a remnant incapable of dealing with the grave problems of democratic legitimacy that those laws were intended to resolve.' It is now up to Congress to act to protect our democracy and undo the damage done by this decision and the Court's earlier ruling in the Citizens United case."
